JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery Appoints Scott Shirley as Winemaker
Mar 29, 2012

There are several events that can define a winery: location, varietals used and barrel usage are some of the few. However, in our experience and opinion there is one event that emerges as having the most impact and at JUSTIN we have just made that crucial step. We are proud to reveal that we have appointed Scott Shirley as our newest winemaker.
A graduate of UC Davis, Scott received a degree in Biochemistry and has been involved in the wine industry for the past 15 vintages at several prestigious wineries, such as The Hess Collection and Opus One. Scott has spent his career specializing in understanding microclimates and distinguishing which grape varietals achieve varietal flavor perfection. He has trained his palate on Bordeaux blends while working for Opus One and is excited to hit the ground running with what is shaping up to be a very landmark 2012 vintage for JUSTIN.
With this news there are sure to be questions. However, rest assured that we have a passion for our wines and will continue striving to create wines that belong in the company of the finest wines in the world. Scott is going to be bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience alongside Fred Holloway and Paul Kaselionis to further achieve even higher standards of quality.
We would like to welcome Scott, his wife Margaret and his two daughters to the JUSTIN Family. We are all looking forward to 2012!
